NA6

For your car, we recommend this product:

e440d Select Universal ECU

e440d Select Universal ECU
  • Built in MAP sensor to eliminate airflow meter
  • VE tuning to simplify injector upgrades
  • Easy to use software
  • Plugs into factory wiring
  • Compatible with many third party dashes and devices
  • Full closed loop operation
  • Flex fuel capable
  • Compatible with NA, turbo, supercharged and individual throttle applications
  • Spare output available for boost control if required

Notes:
For the 1.6L NA Miata / MX-5, we recommend upgrading the factory wiring in the car to the level of the 1.8L later model, by doing the following steps:
1. Convert from the semi sequential injection wiring to fully sequential injection (run two additional wires and reterminate at the injector connectors)
2. Correct the factory ground loop (cut the sensor ground wire, black with light green trace) at the back of the inlet manifold
3. Run a new wire for the fuel pump control to the fuel pump control pin on the ECU (from factory, the fuel pump is controlled by the airflow meter,
which you will probably be removing)
4. Add an air temperature sensor (from factory, the air temperature sensor is built into the airflow meter, which you will probably be removing)
5. Remove pin 1C from the ECU loom. This is the starter input to the factory ECU. We don’t use this input, and it can be used as a 0-5V input
instead. Other sensors will read more accurately during cranking with this pin removed.
6. From factory, the NA6 vehicle has no vehicle speed sensor connected to the ECU. If you want to do anything road speed based (launch control,
boost by gear etc) then you will need to add a road speed sensor
7. If you will be doing your own tuning, we recommend adding a wideband lambda sensor.

Also see lower cost option, e420d. The functions you lose with the e420d, compared to the e440d, are:

1. No flex fuel function
2. No adaptive tuning function
3. Limited digital inputs, which will impact on idle control
4. Only 1 wheel speed input, so no traction control ability
